Ok, so on Sunday I made

Lavender Patchouli for my Mum, turned out lovely....

Before I did this I split the batch, as I wanted to make 2 small lb loaves, the lemon and poppyseed crumbles on me like a goodun, the crumbly bits I mushed together and it was like putty, no idea how this happened, anyway I salvaged about 4 bars, they are now hardening well, and smell very good.

Been quite productive today

I made my Mum Lavender and Patchouli soap, I also made Lemon and Poppyseed too.  That will be another post :)

This is what I made this evening, actually made 2, 1 for me and 1 for someone for a Christmas present, pattern from Flossie Teacakes.

I have to send it to my Mum (it's for someone who lives up her way) as I was too lazy to do it while she was here, she has sand at her house (had her garden done) she will fill it with sand, sew the hole up and wrap it for me.  Didn't take long really, am chuffed to mintballs with it.

Eros (FO)

Lovely musky manly scent.  Black kaolin clay and Titanium Dioxide, someone asked if the clay made your hands black, I haven't tested it yet, so I don't know!

Attempted a spoon swirl got a bit scared by it lol I think this looks kinda cool, looks a bit grey in the pic, its not jet black but its not grey either.

Coffee Soap

Yesterday I cut my coffee soap

Today it's kinda lost the coffee scent a little, but I am sure when it's used the aroma will come up.

Have a great day everyone.

This morning I made my first

In the pot swirl, scented with cinnamon, clove and orange, coloured with TD, Red clay and French Green clay, I've yet to get used to a thinner trace, which is why one has more colour in than the other, I used 2 1lb moulds but really I should have used my normal mould.

I think I prefer the straight cut as opposed to the crinkle on this one.

Today I made

Shampoo Bars with Mango FO

OMG the damn thing accelerated and riced on me (2nd time this has happened, the 1st I had to bin, got the oven settings wrong lol), it's now residing in the oven, hope it turns out ok.

Much love, worried Jo

P.S.  I didn't have to worry, it turned out great, this was cut at 7.15 this morning, but am not too sure on the fragrance, it's a bit too sickly for me!

Today I made....

Salt bars

Found a nice recipe from a blog (name escapes me), coconut oil, avocado and castor with fine sea salt, it's in the oven as I type, hope it turns out ok, I've not had much luck with oven process, if it does go to plan, I shall do this process more often.

Hope you're all having a great day, am off to work again later, bye for now.

Much love, Jo

Damn and blast :( still, they don't zap, they just taste of salt lol may still be able to use them, they were only for me anyway.

Well chuffed with my new soap

Green Tea Powder and Tussah Silk, and my usual soap base, looks amazing, love the dark around the edges.

I am not very good at cutting things straight, so I am waiting to get my new cutter (not sure when that will be, hopefully the end of the week) I just sliced the end off so I could see what was going on inside, have to say am pretty damn well pleased.  It feels incredibly smooth and I hope it's going to be a great bar.  Will know in a month or so, will report back.

I tried another white soap yesterday

I cut it this evening and it came out pretty damn good :)  There are fragrances oils of Lime Cooler and Coconut, they were done in lock and lock bacon tubs, 1 ltr and quite long, I got 10 bars out of each tub, but they are small in height, doesn't matter though as I am not selling them!!

Thanks for looking.

Well, it gelled so....

I have left it in the spare room to get some air around it.  I cut a piece just to see, but it was far too soft.  That is 2 soaps below, the one I cut is much smaller in depth!

Am pleased with it considering it's my first soap, guess what people are getting for Christmas LOL

I have made another soap since, a white soap with Olive Oil, Coconut Oil with Tea Tree and Peppermint, that one I have put in the fridge, I've been told it doesn't gel in the fridge, I have also made bath melts, this includes baking soda, citric acid, and sea salt, my do they fizz up, eek, so they are now in the fridge, pics to follow tomorrow !!

Now I have the bug, I usually get bored with things, but this takes little effort and little time, suits my brain lol

Nell and James get married, Saturday, 13th August 2011

Nell and James are married, it was a very emotional day, she was fine til she got to the church and then it hit her, she cried, my Dad cried, she was group hugged by soldiers, Dad and 3 gorgeous bridesmaids.  She cried all the way down the aisle, through most of her vows, you wouldn't think but this is one happy 21 year old.

And yes, the bride and bridesmaids did really wear converse lol

She leaves to start married life in Cyprus on Saturday 3rd September, flying from Brize Norton, a day which I am dreading, but am thinking that they are coming home for Christmas, and I shall be hopefully flying out to see them for my birthday in April.

Much love, Jo

In less than 2 weeks

My daughter Nell will be getting married, and on 4th September she will be flying out to Dhekelia Cantonment, Cyprus, to start married life with James.  It will be only for a year and then they will move back to Surrey, Pirbright, at least she will only be 2 hours away in this country as opposed to 5 in another. I shall miss her so much.  I am very proud of her, she has grown up into a beautiful young lady, who has matured in the last 18 months, (due to working in a residential home with some wonderful staff, that have become very good friends with her, for that I shall be eternally grateful).
I have made 3 bridesmaid dresses, happy with 2 of them, not so with 1, once it is all finished I am sure it will look lovely, they are all wearing Converse trainers, my Nell isn't your usual conventional bride.

As you may or may not be aware, I am a Complementary Therapist, and I have been looking at courses to keep myself occupied when she leaves home. The one I really want to do, is make lotions and potions to sell to clients and non clients, by this I mean, internet selling via my website www.joannawrighttherapies.webs.com or other www means, I have yet to look into this.  My qualification for Aromatherapy allows me to send my client away with whatever leftover oil there is, but not sell anything that I make, and I love love love making lotions, creams, massage creams, lotion bars etc, all that I use just for me (at the mo).  I have emailed my insurance company again to ask another question, which is, can I make creams etc and buy a Cosmetic Safety Assessment and be insured, if they say yes, I can save myself £100+ on courses, don't get me wrong, I love courses, and I love learning, but this one is missions away, Leicestershire, ok not missions, but far enough just for one day.  I am waiting for a soap making book too, this is another thing that I am interested in doing.

Watch this space

Pier to Pier walk in aid of St Helena Hospice

We got to Jan's beach hut this morning at about 10, and she made us a lovely bacon sarnie.  We got everything ready for people to have cups of tea/coffee, water, crispy cornflake cakes, flapjacks, but noone really wanted to stop :( 2 of Jan's friends kindly let us massage feet and legs, so that was good.

Anyway, it was about 1pm and some had started heading back on the 7 miles from Walton Pier to Clacton Pier, 2 ladies sat down and wanted foot massage, the lady I was doing nearly fell asleep, we did have a laugh though, they took my business card and trotted off on their merry way.

I don't know how much we made as yet but it was a lovely day, spending time with other therapists who I don't get to see much was really nice.

Much love, Jo x
